MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) – The actions of the mayor of Riga and the Latvian foreign minister in respect of the state symbols of the Republic of Belarus evoke very negative emotions, Belarusian Justice Minister Oleg Slizhevsky told BelTA as he commented on the incident with Belarus state flag in Riga.
“These actions provoke very negative emotions. The current state symbols of the Republic of Belarus were approved at the nationwide referendum in 1995. Belarusians voted for these symbols themselves,” Oleg Slizhevsky said.
State symbols are also a manifestation of a country s sovereignty. “The way some political figures allow themselves to treat state symbols can arouse only negative emotions,” the minister noted. ....

Belarus, Uzbekistan to cooperate in e-justice, mediation
MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) - The Justice Ministry of Belarus and the Justice Ministry of Uzbekistan signed an agreement on cooperation during the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, BelTA learned from press secretary of the Belarusian Justice Ministry Olga Shibko.
The ministries will cooperate in the areas such as development of e-justice, including informatization of justice institutions, legal regulation of the legal profession and notary activity, organization and development of legal services, development of the mediation institute, training and professional development of legal personnel and in other areas of mutual interest.
“The signed document will contribute to bilateral cooperation as a basis for effective interaction in the legal sector between the Justice Ministries of the two countries,” said Olga Shibko. ....

MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – Belarusian Justice Minister Oleg Slizhevsky talked to reporters about planned novelties in the regulations on political parties after a government conference hosted by the head of state on 9 April, BelTA has learned.
The official reminded that work on the relevant bill has been in progress for about two years already. The development of this document was specified by the lawmaking plan for the year 2019.
Oleg Slizhevsky said: “Today the head of state was made familiar with some approaches to amending the legislation. The expansion of significance of political parties taking into account their membership in the regions was discussed. Higher representation of political parties in the regions was suggested. The minimal membership of a political party is under consideration as well. The current threshold of 1,000 party members may be raised.” ....
