The owner of a western Quebec copper smelter says it will adhere to the government's new requirements and reduce arsenic emissions to five times the provincial norm by 2027.
MONTREAL - Arsenic emissions at a western Quebec copper smelter will be reduced to five times the provincial norm by 2017 at a cost of around $500 million, the plant’s owner said Thursday.
Glencore’s investment will bring the arsenic level down to 15 nanograms by 2027, according to the plan.
