Mumbai Rains Live: Monsoon diseases have surged in the city amid intensifying rains, the BMC’s public health department has cautioned. Malaria, dengue, gastroenteritis and leptospirosis, the prominent illnesses associated with the rainy season, have all witnessed a noticeable upswing in reported cases in July’s first two weeks. According to the data released on Tuesday, leptospirosis has eme rged as a significant health concern, with 104 reported cases in the first two weeks of July, surpassing the total of 97 cases recorded for the entire month of June. Concurrently, dengue cases have also seen a sharp uptick, with 264 confirmed cases registered during the same period, closely approaching the 353 cases reported in June.
