Bonginkosi Madikizela seeks legal advice following Publ...

The statements related to inner-city social housing projects.
“Minister Madikizela has rejected the legality of the complaint from the start and is now seeking legal advice,” said Bianca Capazorio, spokesperson for Western Cape premier Alan Winde.
On Wednesday, 31 March, during a media briefing in Cape Town, acting Public Protector Kholeka Gcaleka said Madikizela’s conduct had been found to be improper.
The complaint laid by Herron dates back to a July 2019 sitting of the Western Cape legislature, where premier Winde’s State of the Province Address was being debated. According to the acting Public Protector’s report, Herron complained about statements made by Madikizela, which included: “So he (Mr Herron) went on to say exactly two years ago, in his then capacity at the City of Cape Town, he initiated inner-city developments. I can tell you now, Mr Speaker, that almost all the projects that were initiated by member Herron in the inner city were halted b ....

Cape Town - Premier Alan Winde is studying a report from the Office of the Public Protector that found Transport and Public Works MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela guilty of a breach of the executive ethics code by lying in the legislature.
In a report released yesterday, Acting Public Protector Kholeka Gcaleka said: “The allegation that MEC Madikizela wilfully made false and misleading statements to the legislature about (Good Party MPL) Brett Herron on July 23, 2019, is substantiated.
“By wilfully misleading the legislature about the achievements or lack thereof of one of its members, Madikizela did not act in a way that is consistent with his office. Instead of withdrawing the false statement, and apologising to the legislature and Herron, Madikizela tried to change the obvious meaning of his statement in question and blamed the false statement on his limitations to converse in English.” ....

SA receives 80 000 more Covid-19 vaccines as vaccinations gather pace

The national department of health says the roll-out of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine has been successful so far. This comes as the country received the second batch of the vaccine on Saturday morning.
Another 80 000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine touched down at OR Tambo International Airport from the US.
On Friday Gauteng said it had completed the vaccination of the first 16 000 healthcare workers.
