President trump. and it s now ten days before the senate returns to capitol hill, presumably to take up impeachment. and yet, speaker pelosi says she won t send the articles of impeachment to the senate until she sees the details of a trial process. meantime, senate majority leader mitch mcconnell and minority leader chuck schumer remain at odds over the terms of that trial. with no word of any negotiations resuming anytime soon. so for now, we are stuck exactly where we ve been for more than a week. in an impeachment purgatory with a whole lot of unknowns. will speaker pelosi s strategy work? how quickly will a senate trial happen? will we hear from witnesses who didn t testify in the house process? and how will all of this affect the presidential election? to help kick things off, i m joined by former california senator barbara boxer, who was a juror in former president bill clinton s impeachment trial nearly 21 years ago. she is now the host of the boxer podcast. and with me here in ....
People remember they treated us very unfairly. they didn t give us due process. they didn t give us a lawyer, they didn t give us anything. now they come to the senate and want everything. just to be clear the senate was invited to have either to represent himself or have his lawyers represent him at the impeachment. he declined to do so. as the standoff drags on, the wall street journal editorial board is calling for the senate to hold a trial. the board writes in today s paper, the current senate has a responsibility to fulfill its part of the constitution s impeachment duty as a check on the partisan excesses of the pelosi house. this isn t merely to give trump a chance to defend himself and be aquitted of house charges. the more important obligation is to the separation of powers fanned to the senate, itself. joining me to take a closer look at this is north korea senator byron dorgan serving at the time in bill clinton s impeachment ....

Doesn t want to have documents is not rising to the level that a senator should rise to. he s being a pure partisan. all we need is four republicans to vote to produce these witnesses, to produce the documents, and i expect that some will. i expect that some will. it should be noted the is a reversal for senator mcconnell. here s what he said about bill clinton s impeachment trial in 1999. every other impeachment has had witnesses. it s not unusual to have witnesses in a trial. so why the about-face 20 years later? mcconnell is not being coy about it. this is a political process. there s nothing judicial about it. impeachment is a political decision. i m not impartial about this at all. mcconnell is predicting a partisan outcome with the president being acquitted. protesters rallying against ....
