Bishop John Dolan’s first experience at Holy Trinity Newman Center in Flagstaff on March 23rd was similar to student’s first experience at the center, having trouble finding the building. Realizing that he couldn’t find the center, Bishop Dolan called chaplain Father Matthew Lowry for more direction. Students caught wind of the situation and ran outside into blizzard conditions to meet the bishop at the nearest intersection and direct him to the center.  

Priests from throughout the Diocese of Phoenix flocked to Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral for the annual Chrism Mass with Bishop John P. Dolan presiding. The annual Mass draws a crowd to witness the bishop blessing the oils that will be used throughout the year in sacramental celebrations such as Baptism, Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick and Holy Orders.

Last week, AZHCC Board Members attended a welcome luncheon for Bishop John P. Dolan to the Diocese of Phoenix at the University Club of Phoenix.

Bishop John Dolan installed Father Ignatius Mazanowski as pastor of St. John Vianney parish during the vigil Mass for the Fourth Sunday of Lent, Laetare Sunday. Meaning “rejoice” Sunday, Laetare Sunday was a fitting day for Father Ignatius to be installed and the altar dedicated. Members of the community were the first to congratulate Rev. Ignatius and dress the newly dedicated altar.   

Bishop John Dolan celebrated a Healing and Reconciliation Mass for survivors of abuse and their families at St. John Vianney Church in Sedona, reminding all of us to ask the Divine Physician to heal our church and bring us to wholeness. The Mass was organized by the Office of Child and Youth Protection for the Diocese of Phoenix.
