RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Between 1940 and 1950, Murfreesboro grew by 37.2%, with a population of 13,027 on April 1, 1950. At the same time, Smyrna also grew by a whopping 212%, adding an additional 724 residents for a total population count of 1,541. On April 1, 1950, the population of Rutherford County added up to 40,613 residents. As the growth continued well into the 1970's, Rutherford County eventually had to add a full time Emergency Medical Service office to further assist the volum . ....

Rutherford County Schools Advance Plans for Batey Elementary in Blackman Community

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - During a recent session, the Rutherford County Schools Board of Directors made significant strides towards the construction of the new Batey Elementary School within the Blackman community. Among the key decisions, the board voted on various funding options, including a request of $25 million from the county commission to facilitate the building process.

RCSO Receives Reports of Armed Suspect

 
(Rutherford County, TN) Around 4:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon (3/29/2023) the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office sent deputies to the Blackman Community regarding calls about a suicidal person walking around with a handgun.
When the incident occurred, several listeners phoned WGNS asking about the armed deputies walking around their neighborhood with assault rifles, which was when the radio station received confirmation of the situation.
