Healthy snacks are given to students to expose them to new tastes
Jicama, dates, golden beets and sweet peppers. These are some of the snacks elementary students from 26 Corpus Christi ISD campuses have been receiving from the district's Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program this school year. Interim Food Service director Mary Boyd said the program is federally funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and provides snacks to students every Tuesday and Thursday.
