Floating wind developer Blue Gem Wind has begun its 2021 Celtic Sea offshore survey campaign. On behalf of the developer GEOxyz has started geophysical survey work at the Erebus floating wind site which is 45km south-west of the Pembrokeshire coastline. The offshore surveys follow on from a recent temporary onshore met mast installation on the Angle Peninsula. Current offshore surveys are due to last until mid-June. The company has already received seabed rights for its trial project, the 96 MW test and demonstration Erebus project that is already in development. Total and Simply Blue Energy have unveiled plans for the 300MW Valorous floating wind project in the Celtic Sea. The Blue Gem Wind joint venture has filed an environmental scoping report for the scheme, its second floater in the area following from the proposed 96MW Erebus. Valorous is located 50km south-west of Pembrokeshire in Wales.
