The research suggests that if bus and metro services are made available within a 1-4 km radius, 60% of people would choose either metro, bus, or a combination of both
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) disclosed a plan to build a skywalk in January 2022, connecting the Banashankari temple in the area, the BMTC bus terminus (which also hosts the Traffic and Transit Management Centre) and the metro station.
Experts say the onus is on the state government to fill in all the vacancies in K-RIDE along with the appointment of a full-time MD to accelerate the pace of the project.
“It is difficult to commute on most roads in and around Varthur, Hoody, Whitefield and other areas due to the potholes and the craters. We have been complaining to the authorities concerned about the bad condition of the roads, but nothing has been done to date to fix this problem,” said Jagadeesh Reddy of Varthur Rising.
