Ekiti State Assembly Speaker, Gboyega Aribisogan, has been illegally impeached and suspended indefinitely by some members of the Assembly loyal to former Governor Kayode Fayemi. Aribisogan identified eight lawmakers who were involved in the impeachment even though the House has 26 lawmakers. Olubunmi Adelugba, who lost to Aribisogan in the election last Tuesday, has now been elected as the new Speaker.

At least eight members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly have been suspended indefinitely over the illegal impeachment of the Assembly Speaker, Gboyega Aribisogan on Monday. The suspended lawmakers are Jamiu Akeem, Arobasoye Adeoye, Bode Adeoye, Lateef Adeoye, Lukas Akanle, Lukas Toyin, Deji Ajayi and Demola Ojo. This was confirmed by the Speaker of the House, Aribisogan after the illegal impeachment.
