The City of Las Animas hosted its monthly council meeting on Feb. 9 at Las Animas City Hall.
The council approved a motion for an application for Paul Lyons to operate Better Green, a marijuana-infused products company that will be located in the old Family Dollar store. The business will move into the building, which has been vacant for approximately a year.
The council also approved two liquor licenses. The first was a renewal of the license for Mini Mart at the Loaf n Jug No. 59. The other was for JR Liquor Inc.
The council heard a request from the Boggsville Historical Site to help refurbish the area. The total cost would be $600,000, with the first of three phases already completed at a cost of $208,000. That included replacing the roof on the Boggs house.
