Bold Tern to support Siemens Gamesa in Asia Pacific - reNews

Fred Olsen Windcarrier has temporarily mobilised a second installation vessel, Bold Tern, to the region.  In 2018, Fred Olsen Windcarrier was awarded a contract with Siemens Gamesa for the transport and installation of wind turbines on the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind farm in Taiwanese waters using the installation vessel Brave Tern. Last month Brave Term completed the first installation of the 80 8MW Siemens Gamesa turbines at Yunlin. MHI Vestas and Fred Olsen Windcarrier have installed the first of 100 turbines at the 950MW Moray East offshore wind farm off the east coast of Scotland. Pre-assembly work is being undertaken at Global Energy’s facility at Nigg, after which components are loaded on to the installation vessel Bold Tern and taken to the project site in the Moray Firth. Moray East Wind Turbine Installation to Start Soon

December 29, 2020, by Adrijana Buljan Wind turbine installation at the Moray East offshore wind farm is scheduled to start in the first days of the next year, around 5 January. The wind turbines will be installed by the Bold Tern jack-up vessel, with the commissioning work to be done from Acta Centaurus, supported by two crew transfer vessels, HST Harri and Windcat 40, according to the project’s latest Notice to Mariners.
