Footfall counters detected 592,484 walks on the promenade in Bray during 2020. This was an increase of 195,040 on figures from 2019, when the counter detected 397,444 passers-by. Meanwhile, numbers walking the Main Street and town centre have declined by over 130,000 in the year. The month of November saw a footfall of 70,846 on the prom, while in the same month in 2019, the counter detected 23,370 passes. There should be some 'good news' before Christmas regarding Bray Central, according to District Manager Lorraine Gallagher. In a report to the members last Tuesday evening, District Administrator David Forde said that there should be news by January, regarding an anchor and other tenants. Ms Gallagher said that estimate was conservative and it will likely be sooner than that. The shopping centre's 'practical completion' date is now January, with steel supply having delayed the tower crane coming down by a month. Negotiations are still ongoing with tenants, members heard.
