Udhagamandalam: The failure of Ooty municipality officials to streamline the vaccination drive has hit hard the senior citizens, who are made to wait in queue for hours together but only to be sent back without inoculating them. There are reports that municipality officials are not issuing tokens area wise, despite instructions in this regard from the district administration.
On Monday, the municipality and health officials failed to regulate the crowd at the three camps in Ooty, where vaccination for senior citizens was scheduled. Senior citizens were made to wait in the queue along with other people and many of them were later sent back empty-handed. Social distancing too was not maintained during the drive.
