An open-air bus parade for Argentina's World Cup heroes had to be called off as the celebrations descended into chaos.
The players had to abandon the open-top bus taking them to Buenos Aires and get on helicopters for a flyover of the capital.
The team flew over the crowd in what the government billed as an aerial parade, "because it was impossible to continue by land due to the explosion of people's happiness."
Lionel Messi carried the trophy off the plane, flanked by coach Lionel Scaloni as they were met by adoring crowds.
