Retail Sails offer public a chance to own a piece of Detroit Lakes history
Though the 150 Sails Up in DL public art project has been completed, there are still about a dozen sailboat sculptures available for purchase, either directly at the Detroit Lakes Sesquicentennial website, or via public auction at events scheduled later this year.

These two small sailboats were offered for sale via silent auction at the Sailboat Regatta Party on Friday, April 30. Proceeds from the Sails Up Detroit Lakes sculpture (at left) by Ava Marchus went to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes. Bids for Spinner Blade Parade (at right) did not meet the reserve price, so the sculpture will be sold as one of the city s Retail Sails, with proceeds to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
