A Cedar Rapids couple that's been providing free meals to local families ever since the August 10 derecho got a huge lift this morning, courtesy of ABC-TV's Good Morning America. Bridgette Williams-Robinson and Jovountae Robinson, parents of seven kids, have been operating Bridge Under the Bridge since the day after the storm struck. They provide free meals under the 8th Avenue bridge near the corner of 8th Avenue and 3rd Street Southwest in Cedar Rapids. They're there every day except Saturday each week. Bridge Under the Bridge teamed up with Sugarfire Barbecue and Hope's Bridal to offer meals in a parking lot under an elevated section of I-380. The food was provided for 32 families on Sunday. Bridge Under the Bridge also held its first annual toy drive in conjunction with the meal giveaway. The organization serves hundreds of hot meals daily.
