there are sort of three messages. one of the central messages in the book is that we are all intertwined. that what happens to a person will have an impact on, you know, what is happening to other people potentially very far away. and that is true of our our environment of our economy. but you know on a very personal level, i would like to see children recognize that and feel responsible for others. there s a message of service. first it s grandma annie who does the pulling and helping of people who are suffering and eventually it s my daughter. the idea is to remind children that they re strong and also, i hope that the book can open up conversations about the ones whom we ve lost, people who have ....
