The Pacific halibut bite has been pretty good out of Eureka this week. Pictured are a couple of anglers who boated their limit of halibut while fishing off Eureka on Monday. The weather finally cooperated for consecutive days and the Eureka boats took full advantage. Most of the angling effort was on the Pacific halibut grounds but quite a few boats made the trip south to Cape Mendocino. The rockfish bite along the North Coast continues to be red-hot. Black rockfish, like these caught Sunday out of Crescent City, are making up the majority of the catch. After sitting on the sidelines watching the wind blow for nearly two weeks, boats fishing out of Eureka were finally able to make their way to the halibut grounds Monday.
