Labor Day weekend is upon us once again -- a time to enjoy the last gasp of summer. And what better way to do that than with friends and/or family at a suburban eatery -- either in person at brunch or by ordering takeout or a grill kit to enjoy at home.

With the unofficial start of summer happening Memorial Day weekend, it's time to start firing up the grill. Lucky for you, some suburban restaurants are offering grill packs or seafood boil packs to-go to help make your barbecue a success. If you'd prefer going out to eat over the long weekend, there are eateries serving special brunches or discounts for military service members.

As summer approaches, restaurants and bars along the lower Fox River are preparing for a return to -- they hope -- 2019 normalcy with new menu items, live music lineups, and added seating and bar space.
