Focusing its search on East Hartford, the Children’s Museum in West Hartford is hoping to identify a new home in the coming weeks. “Our hope is to bring that to some conclusion within several weeks to a month or so,” said Michael Werle, executive director of the Children’s Museum.

Plans for dozens of new apartments and condominiums in and near West Hartford Center now include a proposal for 172 luxury rentals on the site of the relocating Children's Museum.
The New York developer picked to buy and redevelop the Children’s Museum site in West Hartford has submitted plans for a 172-unit, S-shaped, luxury apartment building packed with amenities. The neighboring Kingsford Oxford School decided in 2020 to sell the property underlying the museum at 950 Trout Brook Drive and athletic fields to the south – a total of 3.3 acres. Following a search, the school announced in January plans to sell to Continental Properties. At the time the company said it was planning a luxury apartment complex, but few details were shared.
