The Gulf Breeze City Council authorized the penalty projects in lieu of paying $1 million for the mistake that contaminated water at about 340 homes.
Midway plans to implement advanced metering infrastructure, purchase equipment that will reduce leak repair time and add a waterline extension.
The favored projects include a lift station in the Bergren Road area and a septic-to-sewer conversion project in the Woodlawn Beach area.
Gulf Breeze will pursue an in-kind penalty project in lieu of paying fine for the cross-connection that contaminated drinking water in Gulf Breeze.
Brown has been hit with about $2 million of the assessed penalties, Gulf Breeze $1 million and Midway $220,000.
