Lt. Gov. Sylvia Luke, acting on behalf of Gov. Josh Green, issued an emergency proclamation on Tuesday afternoon relating to wildfires in Maui and Hawaiʻi Counties that are being fueled by windy and dry conditions created by Hurricane Dora.

Hurricane Dora passed south of Hawaii by more than 500 miles, but due to the location of large-scale weather features, gusty winds of greater than 70 mph impacted the islands.
