When it comes to weddings, several planners and industry experts expect this year to be the storm after the quiet of 2020.
Weddings that were postponed last year because of restrictions to slow the spread of the coronavirus were rescheduled this year. Couples who opted for “microweddings,” small gatherings with close family and friends, are holding bigger followup ceremonies or receptions this year and next.
The loosening and lifting of restrictions have inspired people to upsize this year and bring back dancing. On Friday, Gov. Jared Polis ended the state’s mask mandate in most public settings, while suggesting that unvaccinated people still wear them.

DENVER As more people get vaccinated, events in Colorado are picking up again – event planners and hosts are tackling something they have never had to before: finding out their guests vaccination status. We went from our busiest season to three weddings that we designed and executed, said Brynn Swanson, founder of First Look Events Planning.
Swanson is an event planner based in Denver who s thrilled to see business picking back up after a challenging year. Her company mainly helps clients plan weddings as couples are finally walking down the aisle after COVID-19 postponed their big day for an entire year.

DENVER For many couples with a wedding this year, life has spun them in endless circles. But now, there is a glimmer of optimism. In January at the time, I was just like. as long as someone besides me and Eric is on this farm, great - but now, as weâre able to have more people, you start to want a little bit more of that normal wedding environment, said Samantha Hess, who is getting married in about three weeks.
But on Sunday, Gov. Jared Polis announced an amendment to Colorado’s mask mandate, effectively allowing people not to wear masks at indoor events if 80 percent or more of the people attending show proof of full vaccination.
“We’ve been in it for a while now so I think people are expecting the worst and I think this is a step in the right direction in a positive direction,” Venter said.
She isn’t quite sure how this new process will work with her clients. Venter said she has already told couples to consider asking their wedding guests if they are vaccinated. Most wedding websites allow a question about vaccination when someone RSVPs.
