Though the process of appointing Vishnu Deo Sai as chief minister in Chhattisgarh was smooth as Raman Singh, who was touted by some as a claimant to the post as he had served as CM for 15 years, himself willingly performed the role of announcing Sais name. Vasundhara Raje, who has served as chief minister of Rajasthan twice in the past, met over 45 newly elected BJP MLAs at her residence last Tuesday. These lawmakers expressed their support to her for the CM post even as the party high command is said to be mulling over appointing a new face.
Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy met with senior BJP leaders to discuss seat-sharing for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Kumaraswamy stated that the JDS and BJP have decided to form an alliance to defeat the Congress in Karnataka. He believes that the alliance will be more beneficial for the BJP, and they can replicate their success from the 2019 elections. Kumaraswamy also mentioned that an alliance is crucial for the BJP s performance in the state and that seat-sharing will be announced at the appropriate time.
