Winona's riverfront trail secures first land access deal (7/9/2021)
After years of development difficulties, a proposed riverfront bike trail is finally making tangible steps toward completion. Winona city officials announced they had secured an easement for the trail to go across the property of Bay State Milling, directly to the east of Levee Park. Earlier, Bay State officials had indicated they would work to grant the city an easement following the city’s approval of Bay State expanding their warehouse and demolishing the former Peerless building. An easement is a guaranteed use of property; unlike a deed, which gives someone rights to the property itself.
Winona Parks & Recreation programs Bob Welch Aquatic Center Opening date is June 12, 2021. Closing date is August 22, 202. Additional pre- and post-season hours may be possible pending staff availability. The 2021 admission rates are $48 for memberships; $37 for 10-punch cards; and day passes for $5 for adults, $4 for youth, and free for children four and under. Hours are Monday through Friday, open swim session from 1-6:00 p.m. Five shareable lap lanes will available during open swim sessions. Saturday and Sunday open swim session 12-7:45 p.m. Five shareable lap lanes will available during open swim sessions. At least two shareable lap lanes will be available during swim lessons for individuals interested in lap swim from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Other lanes may be used for learn to swim lesson programming.

The No. 8 rated OHS wrestlers host Section 1AAA foe Farmington at 6 pm Thursday, February 11 with coverage on AM 1390 KRFO and the KRFO app, plus simulcasting at 94.7FM. The meet was supposed to be a triangular with Rochester Mayo, but the Spartans won't be coming. Also Thursday, the Huskies boys hockey squad skates at Winona inside chilly Bud King Ice Arena. Kat Kountry 105 FM will have the play-by-play for the scheduled 7:15 pm start.
