Bengaluru, Jan 12: Karnataka will be getting 7.95 lakh vials of Covid vaccine in the first consignment and it will be stored in the government storage facility near Anand Rao circle in the City, Minister for Health and Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar said on Tuesday.
Speaking to newsmen here, he said that the Covi-Shield vaccine has already been approved by the DCGI (Drugs Control general of India). The union government has purchased 1.1 crore doses of vaccine at a cost of Rs 210 per dose. This is the cheapest vaccine in the world.

Madikeri, Jan 8: Madikeri Rural police have registered an FIR against former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his provocative statements on Kodavas consuming beef.
The FIR was registered based on a complaint by Ravi Kushalappa.
Police said that they had invoked the provisions of Section 153 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to wanton provocation.
The issue had snowballed into a controversy with the Kodavas taking exception to his statements following which Mr Siddaramaiah had clarified that his remarks were misinterpreted by the media.
“I am aware of Kodava culture and I greatly respect it,” he had stated.

Student succumbs to burn injuries after self-immolation | Mangaluru News


UDUPI: A college student who allegedly set himself on fire at a private college ground late on Saturday succumbed to burn injuries in the early hours of Sunday. Police who identified the victim as Shrivastava, 20, first year BA student from Badagabettu, said he was under treatment for mental health issues and had skipped classes of the second semester. Police recovered a can of petrol and a lighter from the ground. A case of unnatural death has been registered in Udupi town police station.

A pedestrian knocked down by a speeding car at Kirimanjeshwara along NH 66 under Baindoor police station limits succumbed to injuries notwithstanding a move by the driver to shift the injured person in the car to a hospital late on Friday. The incident took place around 8.40pm when Buddivantha Nayari was waiting to cross the road along a bus bay when a Jaguar coming from Kundapur moved to the extreme right and hit Nayari.
