More quarters that do not normally openly speak out have expressed concern at the way the government is managing the Covid-19 pandemic.
An army general said the country’s Covid-19 response lacked coordination and speed.
The German and Japanese chambers of commerce also wrote to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin urging him to reevaluate the government’s approach to businesses with regard to Covid-19 restrictions.
The letters were later circulated in the public sphere.
Meanwhile, a Bloomberg column, citing Malaysia’s Covid-19 management, argued the country was becoming a failed state, prompting rebuttals from two ministers.

PETALING JAYA: Following a hike in Covid-19 cases in Malaysia, ICUs in designated hospitals nationwide are operating at near capacity and to help cope with this surge, Tzu Chi Kuala Lumpur and Selangor donated ICU equipment to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Covid-19: Malaysia reports another 50 deaths as total cases breach half million mark

Malaysia reported another 50 Covid-19 related deaths today, the same number as yesterday, raising total fatalities to 2,199. New cases totalled 6,320, the fourth straight day with more than 6,000 infections, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Malaysian hospitals hit by Covid-19 among staff


Major Malaysian hospitals are facing coronavirus outbreaks among their staff as the number of active Covid-19 cases hit more than 15,000 yesterday.
The Klang general hospital and Serdang Hospital, in the country's richest and most populated state of Selangor, have suffered an outbreak among staff in recent weeks.
The Klang general hospital has seen over 50 staff infected with the virus, while Serdang Hospital has registered 29 cases.
Sungai Buloh Hospital, another key facility treating Covid-19 patients, reported 15 cases among its workers. Kuala Lumpur Hospital has registered 10 cases, according to the Health Ministry yesterday.
The hospitals serve a densely populated urban area totalling over seven million people, encompassing Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
