By Chuks Okocha The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mobilised Governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State and Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and the partyâs reconciliation committee headed by a former President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to persuade the Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, to rethink plans to defect from the main opposition party to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). THISDAY learnt that the move followed the threat by 18 elected local government chairmen and 196 councillors in the state to defect from the PDP if the party fails to repeat its state congress. ....
Reacting to a question on the herders/natives unhealthy relationship in the Southwest and the Southeast, he said: “Everybody just have to come to the table and discuss and come to amicable resolution which I’m sure we will. “I don’t think any ethnic group should lord it over any ethic group, the south west should not lord it over the north, the north should not lord it over the south. “We should respect each other’s trade, geographical space, history, culture and more importantly the issue of crime, murder, all those things should be completely jettisoned. But more importantly, we all have to sit on the table and discuss this matter and look for the way forward. I think everybody is willing to do that. ....

The Guardian learned that one of the suspects, popularly known as Danny, who deals in Indian hemp was equally arrested. x Also, a six-man robbery gang attacked a policeman at gunpoint during a robbery attack. A source said during the incident, which occurred at the weekend on Chief Obot Street, State Housing Estate in Calabar Municipal Council, men of Operation Akpakwu confronted the gang and arrested three members after a gun duel. ....
