Blackhawks Future in Net Still Just a Handful of Maybe - Vimarsana News

Blackhawks Future in Net Still Just a Handful of Maybe

The Chicago Blackhawks went into the 2021 season without a legitimate starting goaltender at the NHL level. They came out of the 2021 season … basically in the same position. Kevin Lankinen emerged as a solid NHL-caliber goaltender in his rookie season, but he wasn’t able to keep his hot start to the season going all year long. Malcolm Subban and Collin Delia performed at the level you would have expected out of them, but neither fully took the reins as a long-term solution (as a starter or backup) for the organization. With all three goalies signed through the end of next season, it appe...

Down on the Farm Report: IceHogs Release Darling, Tomkins Work, Krutil Signing, More

The Rockford IceHogs are off to a rough start to their shortened 2021 AHL season. Still searching for their first win of the year, the IceHogs are 0-3-1 after dropping their last two games – but, hey, that was the same start as the Chicago Blackhawks. Maybe the response to the 0-3-1 start with the IceHogs will be similar to what we saw in Chicago. That would be nice. Over the weekend, the team dropped their first two games of the season against the Wolves, falling 5-4 on Saturday and 5-2 on Sunday. With three assists in Saturday’s loss, veteran defensemen Cody Franson, who was named as an alternate captain (along with John Quenneville), leads the IceHogs in points after their first two games of the year. Wyatt Kalynuk scores his first pro goal as t...

Down On The Farm Report: Rockford IceHogs Open Training Camp

The Rockford IceHogs, the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, begin their season on February 5. Playing 30 games for the 2021 season against four different opponents, the IceHogs are coming together as a very young team and will possibly be focusing on development more this season than the wins and losses. With training camp opening this week, we introduce the Down On The Farm Report, a weekly look at the Chicago Blackhawks farm system news and notes from the AHL Rockford IceHogs. #Blackhawks VP Hockey Ops Mark Bernard says the focus is on development, "you're going to have young players...
