If an immediate family member has breast cancer, the risk of developing the disease increases by 1.5-3 times. Hereditary breast cancers account for 2%-2% of familial breast cancers, and the rest are caused by non-genetic factors such as the same eating habits, life stress, personality traits and emotional state. Poor lifestyles are also high risk factors for breast cancer. Women with a family history of breast cancer should be closely monitored, and screening can be appropriately increased, experts say.
