THE number of fines issued by Cumbria police for Covid breaches continues to climb during lockdown, new figures have revealed. Data released by the National Police Chiefs Council has revealed that 1,112 fines have been given out for breaching Covid regulations - and there has been an increase recently due to the stricter guidelines. The largest proportion of these are for local lockdown regulations (740) and there were zero given out for mass gatherings. Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall, says quad bikes and agricultural equipment are key targets for criminals to sell on to unsuspecting buyers or organised crime gangs.
