SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - As the Lake Tahoe Basin shovels out the feet of snow from their driveways, road crews are busy removing snow to allow for easier and safer movement. Heavenly is reported 68" of new snow over the last 48 hours. Sierra-at-Tahoe reports 50"-78" over the last 7 days. Kirkwood reports 48" of snow in the last 48 hours.
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe is under a Winter Storm Warning until 4 a.m. Monday. Even though the heaviest snowfall is most likely over, another 3-5" of snow is expected at lake level in South Lake Tahoe during the day Sunday.
As a late April snowstorm moved out of the Tahoe area, it left behind a significant amount of sunshine, blue skies, digging out and travel issues in the Sierra.
2:45 p.m. update: Caltrans is holding traffic on I-80, SR267 is closed, SE88 at the Carson Spur is closing at 3:00 p.m. for avalanche control and there is no estimated reopening time. The Mt. Rose Highway is closed. If traveling, watch the California and Nevada road websites.
