Originally, Boise didn’t qualify for the postseason but after the top-seeded Real Salt Lake Academy dropped out of postseason play, the Cutthroats earned another shot at extending their season.  Caydee Farnworth was immaculate, by definition, Tuesday night in a 3-0 win over McQueen top kick off the 2021 Northern Nevada Class 5A regional tournament.  The junior only needed nine pitches in the fifth inning, tossing nine strikes and recording three punch outs. "Those always feel good," said Farnworth. "It's one of those games where you're dialed in and you keep going at them." She recorded 12 strikeouts and allowed two hits in seven innings of work.  Carson High and Douglas softball played nine back-and-forth innings Saturday afternoon to close out the regular season. With two runners on and two outs in a 1-0 count in the bottom of the ninth, Carson High’s Caydee Farnworth drove a ball into the outfield, which caught the breeze and dropped a few feet inside fair territory. They promised they were going to beat McQueen in the regional semifinal. All four delivered on that promise as the Tigers earned a 2-1 win Thursday night in the Class 5A Northern Nevada regional semifinal over McQueen. In the 68 th minute, it was senior Hannah Shaw that delivered the game-winning blow. Douglas earned a corner kick and was looking to build on its 1-0 lead as the clock wound down. Shaw took a small trot into her plant step and used her left foot to loft a perfect cross for what she thought was the head of senior Kennedy Cole.
