Thousands of people woke up in homes without electricity in the the greater Seattle area after a night of rain and wind. As of late Saturday morning, Seattle City Light's outage map showed 17 outages affecting more than 1,700 customers. Puget Sound Energy said more than 4,700 of its customers were impacted. The Seattle Times reported that the outages stretched from Seattle to Kitsap County and south to the state capital in Olympia. Some outages in Seattle were caused by fallen trees as the winter weather dropped up to a foot of snow in parts of the Cascades in Washington and Oregon.

Heavy rain is set to sweep the Pacific Northwest into this weekend, bringing snow to the Cascade Range and potentially causing river flooding across the region.

A weather pattern with multiple strong fronts is forecast to bring rain and gusty winds to the lowlands and up to 3 feet of snow to the Cascades into next week.

An atmospheric river event is forecasted to bring rounds of potentially heavy rain to the Pacific Northwest, affecting areas ranging from Longview, Washington, to the Willamette Valley. Meteorologist Joe Martucci provides insight into when and where the heaviest rain will occur, while a flood watch is in effect for locations west of the Cascade Range.
