president. we don t have a sitting president here. this is a former president, so indictment is not even remotely not possible. it s completely within the rounds of possibilities. but not holding public office is extremely possible for somebody who has the clear that he is running for office. glenn kirschner, i turn to joe last week when i needed to understand how this happens when the justice department gets a referral, or this particular case, the partial prosecutor jack smith, maybe get this referral . how much of this information that congress has gathered from all of this testimony can that use? it is simply a road map to tell them, check out these people because we ve got good information? or can they act or take any of the testimony or evidence that is presented at the january six committee? oh, ali i think they will gladly receive that all. but that will only serve as a starting point because if somebody gives you a transcript that was developed by someone else, the first
the thing that we are not speaking about here is it s peoples frustration with merrick garland. why hasn t he moved faster on this? will he move faster on this? does the appointment of jack smith as a special prosecutor solve some of that problem? or not? jill made the point that if the committee didn t say that when there were these crimes that may have been committed, people would say that there were no crimes committed. republicans might say that. on the other hand, republicans going to say this is a this is what donald trump says it, is it s a witch hunt, it s it a legitimate political targeting of him. so, they re gonna come out and recommend that crimes be pursued. well i think two things happen. one, when merrick garland got this case he treated it like a mob investigation. start with the lowest people below and work your way up the chain of command. and unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on what your perspective are is, there are hundreds and hundreds of low level

think, tracks. i think you are gonna see indictments next year. we won t know exactly what the pacing was or the philosophy was, probably for a very long time. we will may not know it for until well after the cases are tried. but i think what we are seeing now is a growing consensus that the committee is treating this almost like a prosecutor what. what are the most important charges? what are the best charges? what are the charges that are going to stick? and eventuality, they are looking at some other players. i don t think they are going to go in and make referrals for every phony elector out there, but i wouldn t be surprised if they do make referrals for people like mark meadows and john eastman. who were clearly top players in all of this. so i think the committee not only has to decide what charges apply to donald trump, but what people to include in that. and what do they do with people like the members of congress who they don t have maybe an airtight case, but they think th
