Residents and the care team at Ferendune Court care home in Faringdon are celebrating after the group won Large Residential Care Provider of the Year at the LaingBuisson Awards. The awards celebrate industry excellence in the UK health and social care services within public, private and third sectors. The home was recognised nationally for its excellence in providing residential care for older people and its focus on 'innovation and engagement' with residents. The judges cited Anchor Hanover’s use of Memoride, a virtual cycling platform for older people, in their decision. Anchor Hanover’s director of care quality, Cath Holmes said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won the LaingBuisson Large Residential Care Provider of the year award. The last year has been a challenging time for everyone and our colleagues have worked tirelessly to ensure residents continue to receive the highest levels of care throughout the pandemic, so we are delighted that their work has been recognised.”

A DEDHAM care home has scooped top prize in a national award which celebrates excellence in care provision. Residents and the care team at Blackbrook House care home, in Gun Hill, celebrated winning the ‘large residential care provider of the year’ award last week. The LaingBuisson Awards honour and celebrate industry excellence in the UK health and social care services. For the second year in a row, Anchor Hanover, who run the home, was recognised nationally for its excellence in providing residential care for older people and its focus on innovation and engagement with residents. The judges cited Anchor Hanover’s use of Memoride, a virtual cycling platform for older people, was a key, and impressive, factor in their decision.

Cllr Paul Cox and Cath Holmes at Milnshaw Park A TOWN centre park is to get a new BMW £75,000 pump track thanks to a British Cycling grant. It is to be created in Accrington and now companies have been asked to bid to provide it. The track in Milnshaw Park, Accrington, will be created after British Cycling gave Hyndburn Council a £37,000 grant as part of their ‘Places To Ride’ programme. It is hoped that the new track - suitable for bikes, scooters and skateboard - will be ready in time for the school summer holidays The Hyndburn Green Spaces Forum has been granted £30,000 grant from the Lancashire Environmental Fund. A further contribution towards the project has been made by Lancashire County Council.
