Pandemic knocked out Golden Gloves boxing in Fall River

FALL RIVER It’s not just the Southern New England Golden Gloves tournament that was knocked out this past year by the pandemic.
Other events and programs  such as for-profit wrestling matches and free judo classes for juveniles   which for years had been held in the Fall River Police Athletic League’s Franklin Street building were cancelled as result of COVID-19.
“It’s up in the air until the governor opens it up,” longtime PAL boxing coach Libby Medeiros said as to when the annual, amateur boxing competition might resume.
The Golden Gloves tournament in Fall River is usually held on three successive Saturday nights in January.
