Former APA board member Chad Dawson joins Adirondack Wild board

ALBANY Chad Dawson, the Adirondack Park Agency board member who resigned late last year out of frustration with the agency and state Department of Environmental Conservation, has taken a new position with an environmental advocacy group.
Dawson, a leading expert on natural resource management, was elected Tuesday to the board of directors for Adirondack Wild: Friends of the Forest Preserve. The professor emeritus of recreation resources management at the state University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, will focus on planning management in forest preserve, including the Adirondack and Catskill parks, according to a news release.

The video alone has been viewed more than 176 Million times and that particular song played over the opening scenes and closing credits of the movie The Breakfast Club.
On the success of Don t You (Forget About Me)  Simple Minds were invited to play Live Aid in Philadelphia in 1985. The day after the legendary festival the band drove North to New York do the final mixing of their next album Once Upon A Time and that took place at Bearsville Studios on Spear Road in Bearsville. That is when the band fell in love with Upstate New York.

Winter Weather Advisory Issued For All of Hudson Valley

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester Counties from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m Wednesday.
Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze is expected for those counties, according to the National Weather Service.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Dutchess, Ulster, Columbia and Greene Counties from noon on Tuesday until 10 .m. Wednesday. 1 to 4 inches of snow is forecast for those counties.

CATSKILL The wildlife-themed inn and glamping sites on the grounds of the old Catskill Game Farm have changed hands and the new owners plan to add a menagerie of new activities. There also are plans to eventually bring back a few animals such as retired race horses to what was once one of the country’s largest privately run zoos.

Now known as The Old Game Farm, the combination inn and camping site was sold for just under $2 million in November to Yonkers businessman Sidney Blauner and a group of investors.
