Herdsmen crisis: Miyetti Allah, other stakeholders seek end to open grazing in Ogun

Major stakeholders in Ogun State have spoken up in unison against open grazing of animals, saying it will put an end to the incessant clashes between herders and farmers.
The stakeholders made their views known on Wednesday when the Ogun State House of Assembly held a public hearing on the proposed Animal Grazing and Cattle Ranch Establishment Law, 2020.
They all reached a consensus that the State should do away with the creation of a designated grazing route and allow individual cattle rearers/herders apply for land to build ranches for their cattle.
The stakeholders emphasised that the recurring farmers/herders clashes have on many occasions snowballed into kidnapping, cattle rustling and other criminal activities in some parts of the state. ....

Benue govt to flag off COVID-19 vaccination Thursday

Benue State Government says it is set to flag-off vaccination against COVID-19 on Thursday.
Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Rt. Hon. Ngunan Addingi who briefed journalists on Wednesday at the end of the State Executive Council meeting said the exercise would commence by 10am at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi.
The Commissioner noted that 75,000 doses of the vaccine are available for administration, stressing that the exercise is voluntary for members of the public.
Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Joseph Ngbea said the state government has made adequate arrangements to respond to cases of reactions as a result of the vaccination. ....

Imo Assembly confirms four commissioner nominees - Daily Post Nigeria

The Governor had, on March 16, sent the names of the nominees to the assembly for confirmation.
The commissioner nominees include Dr Doris Uzoka-Anike, Dr Bartholomew Okorochukwu, Prof. Boniface Nwogu and Mr Uche Ohia.
Following the development, the Assembly on Wednesday confirmed the nominees, after the consideration of the report of the ad-hoc screening committee.
The ad-hoc committee, chaired by Mr Johnson Duru (APC-Ideato South), in its report, said the nominees were qualified and should be confirmed.
NAN reports that the lawmakers also expressed satisfaction with the qualifications of the commissioner-designates.
Speaking, Mr Eddy Obinna (APC-Aboh Mbaise) described the nominees as “thorough professionals who would help move the state forward”. ....
