The southwest monsoon has made further progress on Tuesday, advancing into additional parts of the South Arabian Sea and the Maldives area.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts the onset of the Southwest Monsoon in Kerala within the next 24 hours, as conditions become increasingly favorable. As of May 28, 2024, the monsoon has advanced into additional areas of the South Arabian Sea and the Maldives region. Expectations are for further progression into various regions, including Kerala, parts of the Bay of Bengal, and Northeastern states over the next few days. In Kerala, heavy rains and gusty winds caused disruptions, with flooded streets impeding travel.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts the monsoon will likely begin in Kerala within the next 24 hours and progress into parts of the northeastern states. Heavy rainfall is forecast for Kerala and Mahe over the next five days, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from May 31st to June 2nd, and Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka on June 1st and 2nd, 2024.
