Colombo, January 20 (Daily Mirror) – While blaming the Health Ministry officials providing false picture about Covid-19 situation to the politicians, the Public Health Inspectors (PHI) Union yesterday warned of a considerable spike in Covid-19 cases in the coming weeks.
Speaking to Daily Mirror, Union’s Chairman Upul Rohana said the Government did not heed to warnings when the PHIs urged the Government to restrict movement or lock-down high-risk areas during the festive season.
Now, the situation has almost gone out of hand and it is the people who have to pay the price for that. There is no option other than ensuring individual safety,” he highlighted. ....

The Public Health Inspector’s Union of Sri Lanka urged the Government and relevant authorities that travel restrictions be imposed to prevent people from crossing provincial borders during the festive season as the high number of Covid-19 cases reported in the Western Province.
The Union’s Chairman Upul Rohana said that Covid patients were increasing in the community at an unprecedented level.he said a large number of patients continue to be reported from the Colombo Municipal Council area in the Colombo District.
“Similar situations are being reported in Gampaha and Kalutara districts as well,” he said. ....
