Though I graduated high school in 1980, I have never attended a class reunion. This year would have been our 40th reunion if not for COVID-19. I was considering going for the first time in 40 years. However, sometimes delaying decisions can come back to haunt us if we are not careful. Whether or not any of us will get another opportunity to attend a class reunion remains to be seen. No matter how hard we hope, none of us know what the future holds regarding class reunions or anything else in our lives.
When I was younger, the reason I did not attend class reunions was because I felt they were nothing more than a show of success. There were many in the Class of 1980 who did quite well for themselves. Even back in the ’80s. My path was not one of success and riches. I knew what it was like to struggle while living paycheck to paycheck. I was envious of all the success stories and did not want to be compared to those who seemed to have life figured out.
