澎湃新闻（www.thepaper.cn）注意到，祁文举是“天网行动”开展以来，湖南成功缉捕的第一名职务犯罪外逃人员。
《湖南日报》曾报道，作为徐国才案关键人物之一，祁文举在岳父案发后第二天就潜逃境外，直到2015年6月3日，潜逃泰国43天后才从海外被缉捕归案。
因犯受贿罪，徐国才和祁文举一审分别获刑14年和5年。“对女婿，我刚开始非常不理解，甚至挺恨他……后来我也想通了，如果不是我的职位和权力，恐怕他也不会这样。”在接受湖南电台交通频道采访时，徐国才曾这样说。

祁文举之所以身陷囹圄，很大程度与其岳父徐国才有关。
