“This is a great opportunity for our hardworking learners who showcased leadership and creativity to help their fellow students and their communities overcome the challenges of the pandemic,” Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said in a statement issued Wednesday, April 21.
DepEd is inviting all Filipino learners who “exhibited extraordinary initiatives amidst the challenges in education” to join the 2021 GSP.
In a separate advisory, DepEd said that the Global Student Prize 2021 is a $50,000 (P 2.4 million) sister prize to the Global Teacher Prize established by the Varkey Foundation with Chegg.org.
The Varkey Foundation has launched the
Chegg.org Global Student Prize this year, a US$50,000 sister award to the Global Teacher Prize, to highlight the efforts of extraordinary students throughout the world that are making a real impact on learning, the lives of their peers and on society beyond.
Chegg.org is the impact, advocacy, and research arm of Chegg: addressing the issues facing the modern student. The Global Student Prize is open to all students who are at least 16 years old and enrolled in an academic institution or training and skills programme. Part time students as well as students enrolled in online courses are also eligible for the prize.
