The BMC has pasted notices on trees that may be hacked in Chembur MUMBAI: Chembur residents are planning to hold a peaceful Chipko protest after learning that the BMC is likely to cut down over 150 trees to make way for the Metro-2B project, which will connect DN Nagar to Mandale in Mankhurd. Even as the civic gardens department and local ward office were passing the buck on each other on where residents could submit suggestions and objections, notices have already been pasted on the trees. Chembur, which is a highly polluted area, is already deficit in green cover. We request the BMC to stay the cutting/transplantation pending consultations with us and other stakeholders, urged Hemant Petare, general secretary of the Chembur Citizens Forum. ....
