Americans think it would be reasonable to have at least a background check before you exercise your right to bear arms. one thing that was clear to me in this speech, has been clear to us all along, has not been clear to everyone, that the president's engagement on gun control is not some political tactic, some chess move. this is an issue that he cares deeply about and is willing to use his political capital, as much as he possibly can, to get something done. now, will we actually get something done? it's not looking great in terms of universal background checks, but i have to say on an issue...
