Ho hum, seven dead: The carnage in Highland Park is the new normal in America
First, let’s dispense with the offensive and shallow attempts to juxtapose two mass shootings — the July 3 mall killings by a 22-year-old man of three people in Copenhagen, where guns are very hard to get, and the killings by a 21-year-old man of at least seven people the next day at a suburban Chicago Fourth of July parade — to insist that restricting access to weapons doesn’t prevent carnage.
