BJP: EC issues show cause notice to BJP's Dilip Ghosh for his remarks on WB CM Mamata Banerjee

The ECI has mentioned in its notice that the comments made by Ghosh were "offensive" and "insulting" and prima facie violative of Model Code of Conduct and advisory dated March 1, 2024. Ghosh will have to reply to the Commission by 5PM on March 29, failing which the Commission will take appropriate action against him. Meanwhile, BJP candidate Dilip Ghosh today apologized for his comments, saying his party and people have called it "unparliamentary", after BJP National President JP Nadda show caused Ghosh last night.

Kolkata, April 26 : According to the data available till 5 p.m., the four Assembly constituencies in South Kolkata, which went to the polls in the penultimate seventh phase on Monday, experienced a low voter turnout as compared to Lok Sabha elections held in 2019.
According to the latest data available, the four constituencies had an average turnout of around 60 per cent, whereas in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, it was little more than 66 per cent.

KOLKATA: An estimated 75 per cent votes were cast on Monday in West Bengal in the seventh and penultimate phase of the assembly election, which was by and large peaceful, Chief Electoral Officer Aariz Aftab said.
He said that 75.06 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 5 pm in 34 seats where polling was held and is expected to go up as the polling ended at 6.30 PM.
